Sky Sports make another signing for 2019
Sky Sports have made another signing to their broadcast roster for the 2019 campaign, with former grand prix driver Karun Chandhok returning to the station. Chandhok had formed part of Channel 4's team for the past three years, but has departed as the terrestrial channel has lost most of its live coverage.
Only the British Grand Prix will be broadcast on free-to-air television in the United Kingdom next year, with C4 airing highlights.
Chandhok, who raced for HRT and Lotus in F1, follows 2009 world drivers' champion Jenson Button, who has signed on as an analyst for Sky next year.
Bit of news: I’m very excited to be re-joining the @SkySportF1 team for 2019 & beyond! With their long term commitment to F1 & live coverage, I felt like it was the right move for me to continue sharing my range of perspective on driving, technical, strategy & the history of F1! — Karun Chandhok (@karunchandhok) December 13, 2018
"I'm very excited to be rejoining the Sky Sports F1 team from the 2019 season," said Chandhok.
"With their long-term commitment to Formula 1 and the team of people that's in place, it's a great time to return.
"I believe that I've been able to develop and offer viewers a unique perspective of someone with a technical, strategic and historical knowledge of the sport combined with the experience of 18 years of driving racing cars."
Chandhok joins a team including 1996 world champion Damon Hill, 2016 champion Nico Rosberg and former F1 drivers Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert and Paul di Resta.
