Raikkonen punished for car crash in Switzerland

Kimi Raikkonen has been fined for a car crash in his hometown, Switzerland's ATS news agency has reported. The Ferrari star, who lives in the Swiss city of Baar crashed into a parked car in May this year, earning a fine of 800 Swiss Francs (£611).

According to reports, Raikkonen had to take evasive action to avoid an oncoming car and hit a stationary vehicle in the process.

He was ordered to pay a fine of CHF 350 and administrative fees worth CHF450.

The 2007 world champion is fourth in the standings with four races remaining in 2018, having scored nine podium finishes.

He remains without a grand prix win since 2013, however, and will be replaced at Ferrari in 2019 by Charles Leclerc.

Raikkonen will remain on the grid, however, swapping seats with Leclerc and returning to Sauber – the team he made his F1 debut with in 2001.
