The all-electric Formula E has been compared to Mario Kart in the past, but could combining the two actually be the greatest thing you've ever seen?! Celebrating the anniversary of the famous Nintendo game's release, Formula E mocked up how banana hazards, shell bombs and more might actually look...

The 2018-19 FE season will feature a second-generation car which will go quicker and complete a race without the need for a driver change.

Another advent for the next season is the "hyperboost", which will see drivers given extra horsepower if they drive through an activation zone.

Sounds familiar right? Yep it's just like a power boost from Mario Kart!

"It would be like Mario Bros when they get the little star and go faster," FE CEO Alejandro Agag said in April.

Time will tell how it looks in practice, but we hope this is an accurate representation!
