Lights Out: Danny or Max?

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix left us with a familiar question: was it Max's fault? Yep, it's a case of another race, another race-altering Max Verstappen crash and this time his Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo was the tango partner. It's lights out for Monday morning!

In Australia, Bahrain and China, it was pretty clear... Max was at fault.

However, the Baku incident was a bigger head-scratcher than the Daddy/Chips dilemma that plagued a nation 20 years ago.

Danny or Max? Danny or Max? Well, Max was weaving around on the straight, blocking both the outside and inside lines - you can't do that.

Danny or Max? Danny or Max? But, Danny was so late in diving into an ever-closing gap into turn one - and you can't do that either.

Red Bull were clear... BOTH were to blame and will be making a full and frank apology to the team. Even the FIA agreed with the team.

The Red Bull drivers enjoy an on-track freedom to fight that some in other leading teams could only dream of (eh, Kimi?) and both drivers were quick to plead for that right to continue.

Next up is Barcelona, where inter-team collisions were given a renaissance by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in 2016.

Hamilton will somehow head to Catalonia on top of the drivers' standings after Baku's latest whack-y race, but Mercedes' ills are yet to be fully cured.

The blunted Silver Arrows can fly safely under the radar for now, however, with attention likely to be focused on the travails of Danny, and especially Max, until then.
