Red Bull's Azerbaijan Grand Prix ended in disaster as Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen wiped each other out after a string of battles in Baku. With both cars hoping to make up places on ultrasoft tyres, Ricciardo ploughed into the back of Verstappen at turn one, ending their races instantly.

The Red Bulls had come to blows three times already in the race, with Verstappen twice fighting back to keep fourth place ahead of Ricciardo, before the Australian found joy at the third time of asking.

However, he was soon behind his team-mate again when Verstappen jumped him at the pit stops, with the racier ultrasoft tyres perhaps giving them the chance of hunting down the podium places.

But their chances went up in smoke almost immediately as Ricciardo looked to dive down the inside of Verstappen, who shut the door, and the pair's cars ended up in pieces.

Verstappen's season has been characterised by on-track errors, but it remains to be seen how race stewards, and crucially the Red Bull top brass, will apportion blame.
