F1 returns to Spain with Lewis Hamilton holding a narrow eighth point championship lead over Max Verstappen.

The Spanish Grand Prix was among the small number of races that retained its position on last year's calendar as F1 battled to continue racing through the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 2020 race took place behind closed doors but this year the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will welcome 1,000 "circuit members" into the grandstands on race day, the day the "alarm state" ends in Spain.

After a disappointing pre-season test, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have recovered to take two wins from the opening three races. Max Verstappen and Red Bull were victorious at Imola and, despite Hamilton's dominance last time out at Portimão, the coming weekend will likely be another closely contested battle.

The circuit at Barcelona is extremely familiar to the teams and the drivers, with pre-season more often than not taking place at the circuit ahead of the annual race.

However, changes made to turn 10, the hard braking zone being removed to create a more flowing corner, will take some getting used to. How this will affect the racing, the braking zone previously being one of few overtaking opportunities on the layout, will become evident on Sunday.

IS THE SPANISH GP ON CHANNEL 4?

No. Only the British Grand Prix is being shown in full on free-to-air television in the UK this year. Highlights of all other races will be shown in a 'prime-time' slot on C4.

HOW CAN I WATCH THE SPANISH GP IN THE USA?

ESPN will carry live coverage of every session from Imola to subscribing fans Stateside.

Friday practice sessions will be available on ESPNU whilst all the action from Saturday and Sunday will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Live streaming is available via the ESPN App.

HOW CAN I WATCH THE SPANISH GP IN AUSTRALIA?

All sessions from each weekend of the year will be broadcast live on subscription service Fox Sports or through its Kayo streaming service.

Channel 10 offers a free alternative, showing highlights of all 23 races as well as the Australian Grand Prix live. This can also be accessed by using the 10Play app.

HOW CAN I WATCH THE SPANISH GP IN CANADA?

Qualifying and the race will be aired live in English on subscription channel TSN, which pulls in coverage from Sky Sports in the UK. The TSN GO app allows fans in Canada to watch F1 on the move.

French-language coverage is available on RDS to subscribers, which will air qualifying and the race live. You can download RDS GO if you are out and about.
