Leclerc tests positive for Covid-19

Leclerc tests positive for Covid-19

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has become the fifth driver to test positive for Covid-19, the team has confirmed.

Leclerc follows McLaren's Lando Norris in testing positive in the break between seasons, with Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll and Lewis Hamilton all missing races last year with the virus.

In a social media post, Ferrari said: "Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow driver Charles Leclerc has tested positive for COVID-19.

"In accordance with the team’s protocols, Charles is tested regularly and yesterday, the result from his latest test came back positive.

"Charles notified us immediately and has informed everyone he has been in close contact with in the last few days.

"He is currently feeling ok with mild symptoms and is now self-isolating at home in Monaco."

It is unlikely that Leclerc's preparation will be disrupted with pre-season testing not taking place until March.

In his own post, the Monegasque driver revealed he had come into contact with a positive case.
