Horner: Collective effort needed from teams "to improve the show and appeal of F1"
Teams have a responsibility to collaborate
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner claims a collective effort is now needed from the teams to improve the Formula 1 "show".
All 10 F1 teams recently committed to the new Concorde Agreement, with Horner viewing the new arrangement as "a partnership" between them, Liberty Media and the FIA.
"From a Red Bull perspective, obviously, seeing how Liberty has been running the sport the last few years, it feels like commercially they’re going in the right direction," said Horner.
"This agreement feels less binding than other agreements that we’ve signed in the past - it’s more of a partnership, I would say.
"It’s now down to the teams to work collectively with the promoter to improve the show and the appeal of Formula 1, and this is an opportunity by all the participants signing to that to work collectively on that."
Since taking over F1 at the start of 2017, Liberty Media has been keen to improve the spectacle of the sport.
It is hoped a combination of a more equal revenue split and the cost cap will aid struggling teams to close the gap to the midfield.
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner said: "The prize fund is divided by your position so if I say it is equal, it isn't right to say that.
"But the rest of it, everything has got a value and I think it is as equal as it can be for the show we are putting on."
Although the exact details of the Concorde Agreement are confidential, Horner insists it is "fair", adding: "If people didn't like it they wouldn't have signed it. I think that everybody is treated equally."
