Racing Point "a little too fast for our liking" - Ricciardo
Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo has conceded to being left stunned by the pace of Racing Point following the first two Formula 1 grands prix of the season.
The RP20 has so far been one of the talking points this campaign after the back-to-back races at the Red Bull Ring, and is now the subject of a protest from Renault in relation to listed parts, notably its brake ducts.
The car has even left Red Bull team boss Christian Horner proclaiming that all in F1 should be worried by its pace, notably in the wake of its performance in Sunday's Styrian Grand Prix in which Sergio Perez rose from 17th to sixth.
"I saw the race plot, with all the lines and all that stuff, and Perez had some serious race pace," said Ricciardo, who had to succumb to Perez's charge late in the race.
"When the team told me Perez was behind me, I was like, huh! And I thought we were having a good race. Obviously, he started way back and he was coming. They're fast, a little too fast for our liking.
"Even watching the onboards, watching his lap from P2 [second practice], that car is hooked up. I'll take nothing away from Perez because he is obviously a very good driver, but that thing is working very well at the moment.
"They're a bit of a handful."
