Racing Point return to the track in the RP20

The team is utilising a second permitted filming day

Racing Point has become the first team to run a 2020 Formula 1 car since the end of pre-season testing in February.

Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari have all elected to complete unlimited mileage in older 2018 cars in a bid to get the drivers up to speed and the race teams accustomed to the new protocols in place when attending grands prix.

Racing Point, however, has opted for a shorter run out, using the second of its two permitted filming days to give Lance Stroll a drive of the RP20.

Stroll, who rolled out of the garage on Pirelli testing tyres at Silverstone on Wednesday morning, will be allowed to complete a maximum of 100km.

The team is using the shorter National Circuit, the layout of which uses the old pit building instead of the more modern Silverstone Wing.

Sergio Perez will not benefit from any track time in F1 machinery ahead of the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix on July 5.
