Verstappen reveals golden new look for 2022
Verstappen reveals golden new look for 2022
Max Verstappen has revealed his new helmet for the 2022 season with gold replacing the red of recent years in celebration of his world championship win.
Verstappen came out on top after a season-long battle with Lewis Hamilton last year to claim his first F1 world title.
Unlike Hamilton, the Dutchman will substitute his regular number 33 for the number one plate this year. The last time a driver competed with that number was in 2014 after Sebastian Vettel's triumph the year before.
Revealing his new look on social media, Verstappen said: "There's a bit more gold. Even 'Gives You Wings' is in gold at the moment, so that looks really cool.
"The lion is fully in gold and as you can see, of course, the number one on the back spoiler [is gold].
"I decided to just not really change the design a lot but change the colours a little it so instead of the red you could see before, it is now basically fully gold everywhere.
"There are some tiny little details that improved, there is a little bit more design into it and, of course, I asked for the little star on the back for the championship win.
"Tiny little upgrades but I do think the gold makes it a little bit cooler."
