POLL - Will Hamilton really walk away from F1?

POLL - Will Hamilton really walk away from F1?

Sam Hall
Abu Dhabi

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has only been able to express hope Lewis Hamilton returns to F1 next season, claiming the seven-time champion is "disillusioned" with the events that unfolded in Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Hamilton has raced in F1 since 2007 and is considered one of the greatest drivers of all time, with many arguing he tops the list.

With most race wins and pole positions to his credit, and his record-equalling seven titles, Hamilton's time in the sport has been an encyclopedia of success.

The controversial ending to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, however, meant he missed out on an eighth championship crown that has left a bitter taste in his mouth and that of Wolff due to the "pain and distress" caused.

Asked on two occasions whether Hamilton would return to F1 next season, Wolff was unable to provide a solid answer. Instead, he had the air of someone hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

Let us know your opinion in the poll below on whether you think Hamilton will stay in F1 or if he will call time and hang up his helmet.
