Russell completed running for Mercedes in Hungary

Daniel Ricciardo has brought the two-day Pirelli test to a close as the manufacturer continued development of the new 2022 18-inch tyres.

Ricciardo was the only driver to lap on the second day of the Pirelli test at the Hungaroring after Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and George Russell all took to the track on Tuesday.

After scoring his first career points for Williams on Sunday, Russell was on duty for Mercedes and completed 137 laps in total.

Just two scheduled tests on the new rubber remain ahead of their introduction next year, with the wet-weather tyres being run by Alpine at Magny Cours for two days on September 15-16.

There is also an end-of-season test in Abu Dhabi in which nine of the 10 teams will be involved, with the exception of Williams that has opted not to develop a mule car.

Behind Russell, Norris registered 122 laps with Leclerc and Sainz, both driving for half a day, totalling 173 laps as a partnership.

On Wednesday morning, Ricciardo added 91 laps to take McLaren's combined total to 213.
