Grosjean completes first IndyCar oval test

Romain Grosjean has completed his first-ever oval circuit running with an IndyCar test at World Wide Technology Raceway.

The Frenchman has enjoyed an impressive rookie season in the championship with Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing, already taking a pole position and battling at the sharp end on a regular basis.

The 35-year-old only signed a road and street course contract with Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing after turning down the opportunity to run at ovals following his horrific incident at last year's Bahrain Grand Prix.

After missing the Indianapolis 500 and double-header at Texas Motor Speedway, Grosjean last month announced he would make his maiden oval start at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

At the same venue and in similar conditions to which next month's event will take place, Grosjean ended the evening test eight out of 11 drivers, just half a second off fastest driver Colton Herta.
