F1 insider survey calls for better track action and switch to free-to-air TV

An F1 insider survey aimed at understanding the views of those who work within the sport has called for improved on-track action and a switch to free-to-air TV.

The survey - which is the first of its kind - has been undertaken by Crunch Communications to take anonymous responses teams, international brands and global media who engage with F1.

Over two-thirds of the respondents made clear they wanted to see better track action provided whilst half of the participants stating they would be in favour of a switch back to terrestrial, free-to-air TV.

The aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic was another point highlighted by the survey, with just under half of the respondents believing it will take until 2023 for F1 to recover from the impact of the 2020 season.

F1 needs better understanding sustainability

F1 is entering a critical stage of its plans to increase the sport's sustainability, with discussions ongoing over the direction of new power units which will be introduced mid-decade.

The current breed of turbo-hybrid engines in F1 is the most sustainable combustion unit to be produced but two-thirds of the survey's participants suggested the sport had not done enough to promote the benefits of the current power units.
