Sebastian Vettel spun out of contention at the Italian Grand Prix for a second straight year, with further punishment possible after he clipped Lance Stroll's Racing Point when rejoining the circuit.
Running in fourth place, Vettel lost control coming out of the Ascari chicane.
In his haste to get going again, he swerved back onto the circuit as Stroll approached, and contact between the two wrecked the Ferrari's front wing and sent Stroll into a spin.
Stroll was guilty of a similar offence as he looked to get going again, forcing Pierre Gasly onto the gravel.
Vettel spun in a lap one collision with Lewis Hamilton a year ago, providing a key turning point in the pair's title fight.
This time around it took a Ferrari out of the battle for race victory, with Charles Leclerc leading the race from Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
