VIDEO: The first EVER use of the F1 safety car!

In modern Formula 1, it is commonplace to see the safety car being sent out on to the track to bring down the speed of the drivers during a race, if there is a swift need to clear the track of debris following a crash or racing incident. But, it wasn’t always used, with the first safety car being introduced in 1973.

Back in 1973, at the Canadian Grand Prix, F1 fans saw something they'd never seen before...
