'Schumacher to miss next Ferrari test'

Ferrari will look elsewhere in Barcelona.

Mick Schumacher looks set to miss out on another Ferrari test in the days after the Spanish Grand Prix in May. The high profile Formula 2 and Ferrari academy driver got to drive both the Ferrari and the Alfa Romeo in the post-Bahrain GP test earlier this month.

Only Max Verstappen, driving the Red Bull, was quicker than Schumacher on the day that he drove the SF90 in Sakhir, although the outing was interrupted by a rain storm.

The 20-year-old was hailed by Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto, who said Mick's approach to the outing was reminiscent of his father, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

But Italy's Autosprint reports that it will be British driver Callum Ilott selected in Barcelona.

"Mick, who we welcomed to the academy in January, and Callum, who has been with us since 2017, are certainly developing drivers and I am convinced that trying the SF90 in the Bahrain and Barcelona tests can be very useful at this stage of their careers," Binotto is quoted as saying.

Ilott is also in the F2 field this year alongside Schumacher, driving for the Sauber Junior Team. The 20-year-old Brit finished third in last year's GP3 championship.
