Verstappen 'might head butt someone' over crash questions

Max Verstappen said he would "headbutt someone" after being asked about his error-prone start to the 2018 Formula 1 season. The Red Bull driver has dropped points at numerous races this year, including last time out in Monaco, where he had to start from the back of the grid due to a crash in practice.

At the news conference ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, Verstappen was asked: "Why do you keep crashing?"

The Dutchman's riposte was similarly blunt, he said: "I don't know. Like I said at the start of this press conference, I get really tired of the questions, I think if I get a few more I will headbutt someone."

Verstappen had earlier said: "I get really tired of all the comments that I should change my approach. I will never do that because it's brought me to where I am right now.

"Everybody who has those comments, I don't listen to it anyway and I just do my own thing.

"Of course in the beginning of the year so far it hasn't been going that well and not in the way I liked.

"A few mistakes, especially Monaco and China, but it doesn't make sense to keep talking about it, because I get really tired of it and it just feels like there are not better questions out there than to keep asking me about what happened the previous weekend.

"I'm just focusing on what's ahead and I'm confident that I can turn things around. The speed is there, I've always been quick every single weekend. It would be much more of a problem if I was really slow because that's a critical problem."

Verstappen gave up a potential win in Shanghai with rushed overtakes on Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, before his Monaco shunt meant he was unable to make use of Red Bull's race-winning potential - his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo benefitted to win both races.

Although he now has less than half of his colleague's points, Verstappen says he has no extra motivation to win in Montreal.

"Of course, I haven't scored points I should have scored but that's not only my fault. I could have been better but everybody makes it so dramatic.

"I like to win every single grand prix, it's not that before it was different, so I approach this as I always do."
