Pierre Gasly gave Red Bull's mechanics a rebuild job for Friday evening at the German Grand Prix after smashing into the barriers at the last corner in FP2.
Gasly had only managed to go 15th-fastest at Hockenheim during the one-lap practice runs, but the incident came as he was practising long runs.
Getting his foot down coming onto the main straight, Gasly under-steered into the gravel and smashed both left-hand wheels clean off his RB15 in the barriers.
The Frenchman had put in an impressive performance at Silverstone a fortnight ago, finishing fourth in the British GP to match his best F1 result, but now appears to be firmly on the back foot once again.
