Mercedes break all-time F1 record with Hamilton's France pole

Mercedes break all-time F1 record with Hamilton's France pole

Matthew Scott

Mercedes broke an all-time Formula 1 record in qualifying for the French Grand Prix as Lewis Hamilton took pole position, leading Valtteri Bottas in the Silver Arrows' 63rd front-row lockout. Mercedes now have more qualifying one-twos than any constructor in F1 history.

Mercedes drew level with McLaren, Williams and Ferrari in Monaco, but now have the spot for themselves.

With the Scuderia struggling to match Mercedes in many races this year, it seems the Silver Arrows may be able to extend their advantage over the remainder of the season.

McLaren and Williams certainly won't be troubling it any time soon, you would think!
