Gasly rages at Hulkenberg rumour: 'It's bulls***!'

Pierre Gasly has said that talks with Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko have left him under the impression that reports linking Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg with taking his seat for the 2020 season are nothing more than "bulls***".

Gasly has been off the pace of team-mate Max Verstappen so far in 2019, prompting suggestions that he could fall foul of Marko's notoriously itchy trigger finger.

However, the Austrian responded to the rumours this week by labelling them "far-fetched" and "nonsense" after discussions with Gasly, in which it seems the Frenchman's mind was put at ease.

Having closed on the fight at the front in recent races, while taking bonus points for the fastest lap in China and Monaco, Gasly preferred to focus on the challenge ahead in the Canadian Grand Prix than discuss speculation.

"I don't want to waste any time with this bullshit," Gasly said. "I have more important things to take care of.

"For me, bullshit like this is just bad journalism. I don't want to comment anymore about this."
