Mercedes has dropped its latest hint that Lewis Hamilton will indeed return to the F1 grid this year.

Hamilton disappeared from the public eye for 56 days after the conclusion of the controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in which he missed out on a record-breaking eighth world drivers' title to Max Verstappen.

Since announcing his return to social media, Hamilton has provided a number of updates to fans as to his activities over the winter break and although he has shared videos of himself training with physiotherapist Angela Cullen, his F1 future has remained a mystery.

However, Mercedes has dropped a number of hints on this topic in recent days with the team reacting to the initial "I'm back" message with a reply of, "That's right."

Last week, Mercedes shared an image of Hamilton faced with a wall of messages of support to welcome him back and ahead of the launch of the W13, the Silver Arrows released a timetable of events that indicates the attendance of the seven-time champion.

It is expected that the outcome of a meeting of the F1 Commission on Monday will play a significant role in Hamilton's decision-making process.

Ahead of a joint statement expected to be made by F1 and the FIA, Mercedes gave a further indication of Hamilton's future with an image of the driver facing his number 44.

The caption read simply, "44 is back."
