F1 legend Hakkinen joins Bottas for Race of Champions
Two-time F1 world champion Mika Hakkinen has joined the roster for the 2022 Race of Champions.
The former McLaren driver will team up with Valtteri Bottas for Team Finland in the ROC Nations Cup before battling it out with a host of superstar motorsport names for individual bragging rights in February next year.
The event returns to its roots for the next running over the winter, switching from stadium venues to a purpose-made ice track on the frozen Baltic Sea at Pite Havsbad.
Hakkinen confirmed the news on Instagram, posting a picture of himself with four of his instantly recognisable crash helmets and writing: "Getting ready for Race of Champions together with Valtteri Bottas."
Joining Hakkinen and Bottas at the Race of Champions, which was last held in Mexico in 2019, are nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, nine-time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb, three-time World Rallycross champion Johan Kristoffersson, and World Rally and Rallycross champion Petter Solberg.
