Ricciardo "open-minded" and willing to learn from McLaren team-mate Norris
Daniel Ricciardo has said he is keen to see what he can learn from new McLaren team-mate Lando Norris after joining the team over the winter.
Ricciardo is 10 years older than Norris and is entering his 11th season of Formula 1 racing compared to Norris, who is at the start of his third year in the sport.
However, with Norris the more experienced at the team, Ricciardo will be looking to gain knowledge from his new team-mate in order to help the team continue its forward momentum from last year's third-place finish in the constructors' championship.
"It's funny. I'm certainly the more experienced in terms of F1, this being my 11th season, but in terms of McLaren, Lando is the more experienced," said Ricciardo.
"For sure, there are some things I can learn from him, particularly within the team itself, the integration into the McLaren family.
"Every time you have a new team-mate, it's a real opportunity to learn something new, like work ethic or a driving technique, or both."
Having won seven races during his time at Red Bull before guiding Renault back onto the podium, Ricciardo would be expected to take on the mantle of being the educator.
This is a scenario Ricciardo has dismissed, however, as he aims to improve himself by taking inspiration from his more youthful colleague.
"I'm always pretty open-minded," he added. "I know every driver has confidence in themselves and their ability, and I am very confident as an individual but I am also open-minded.
"If there's something I can take from Lando and use it to better myself then obviously I am looking to learn as much as I can."
