Norris fancies a shot at the Indy500
McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has revealed he would one day love a crack at the Indy 500.
Norris spoke of his ambition after winning on his IndyCar iRacing Challenge debut at the Circuit of the Americas, surviving a spin to take victory from team-mate and 2018 Indy Lights champion Pato O'Ward.
While Norris naturally conceded after the race to the fact he simply wants "to be getting back in the car and racing again", he also opened up about other possibilities later in his career.
"Hopefully, eventually I’ll get an opportunity to drive an IndyCar," said the 20-year-old, who drove in the 2018 24 Hours of Daytona.

"I would love to explore more variety. Not now. For now, I’ve got my focus on Formula 1.
“But at some point in the future, whether it will be the Indy 500 or just a one-off race or something, I would love the opportunity to go over to America and have a go. That’s something to think about in the future.”
The next IndyCar iRacing Challenge event is due to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, although it has not yet been decided whether the race will take place on the oval or road course.
WON IT! WE WON IT! Thanks for the invite @IndyCar @ArrowMcLarenSP, see you some other time? 😉 #INDYCAR pic.twitter.com/4x6ARI8SG0

Norris is undecided whether to take part due to his lack of experience on ovals, although he has been practising.
“I’m sure the road course side of stuff is in some ways easier and more what I’m used to because I never really drive ovals," added Norris.
"A lot of the IndyCar drivers do drive ovals quite regular, so they’re going to know a lot of tricks that I don’t know. I need to speak with the team, with Arrow McLaren SP. I hope to be able to get that opportunity.”
