'Ferrari engine parts seized by FIA'

The FIA has reportedly confiscated engine parts from power units used at the Brazilian Grand Prix as scrutiny continues to be poured on Ferrari's engine.

Auto Motor und Sport has reported that elements of the fuel-flow system from Ferrari's car, a Ferrari customer's car and another not using the Scuderia's engine have been taken away for tests.

A Ferrari engine upgrade introduced after the summer break helped the Scuderia take six straight pole positions between Belgium and Mexico.

With Ferrari's straight-line advantage estimated to be worth 0.8seconds per lap, the likes of Mercedes and Red bull have been quick to issue their concerns.

Max Verstappen went as far as to suggest that Ferrari's advantage had been achieved through "cheating", while his employers have made moves behind the scenes to try and get down to the bottom of the matter.

A fuel flow system, proposed by Red Bull, was ruled illegal by the FIA ahead of the United States GP, prompting a Technical Directive to be sent to all teams.

In Austin, Ferrari's run of poles came to an end as Valtteri Bottas won from pole - prompting Verstappen's comments.

Another TD, regarding burning coolant fluids, was issued ahead of the Brazilian GP, where Verstappen won from pole and the Ferrari pair of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc crashed out.

Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto says the underlining of regulations has not led to Ferrari's drop in pace, while Vettel said nothing had changed regarding Ferrari's set-up in the States and Brazil compared to previous races.
