Vettel thrilled with performance after 'never-ending' German GP
Sebastian Vettel was clearly thrilled with his performance after coming from the back of the grid to finish second in wet conditions at the German Grand Prix.
In a thrilling, bonkers race, the changing weather forced teams to alter tyre strategy continuously, with eventual race winner Max Verstappen pitting a total of five times throughout.
Vettel, who suffered heartbreak in qualifying in his home grand prix, where a turbo issue meant he was unable to record a time and started the race from the back of the grid, timed his move through to perfection and eventually finished second.
Speaking to Martin Brundle after the race, he said: "It was a long race. At some stage it felt never ending. It was a lot of fun and it was very tough given the conditions, to read what was the smartest move. But I'm just happy.
"It took a while, I don't think it was a problem in the beginning with the intermediates I couldn't really get a handle on it. Eventually then I got going so it was good the afternoon took so long.
"Congrats to Max, I think he drove a great race."
"Before the last safety I realised I was quite a bit quicker and I was happy to pass people.
"I saw a few people being cautious in the first corner while I was giving it everything to get into DRS and I had good moves down the back straight."
It was a more disappointing weekend for team-mate Charles Leclerc, however, who spun out midway through the race when in contention.
