Williams hand Latifi another chance in France

Nicholas Latifi will be at the controls once again for Williams in FP1 at the French Grand Prix, having made his race-weekend bow in Formula 1 last time out in Montreal. Having filled in for Robert Kubica at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the Canadian will take George Russell's car in Le Castellet.

It ensures a busy weekend for Latifi, who will also be out to maintain top spot in the Formula 2 standings, having had his lead cut to a single point when last in action in Monaco.

He will also be given the chance to impress Williams, having lapped just two tenths slower than Russell in Montreal's first practice session a fortnight ago.

"I'm excited to continue my FP1 programme with the team in France coming off a successful weekend in Canada," Latifi said.

"Montreal had a lot of positives and I'm looking to build on those experiences going into Le Castellet.

"It's quite a different track with a lot less risk involved due to the nature of the circuit which will give me confidence to push a bit harder.

"It's also a weekend where I will be mixing my F1 duties with an F2 race weekend, which poses a unique challenge. I'm more than up for it and looking forward to what will be a very busy weekend."
