Verstappen additionally punished for Bottas pit-lane incident
Max Verstappen was given penalty points on his super licence over his pit-lane contact with Valtteri Bottas at the Monaco Grand Prix. the incident also cost Verstappen a podium finish in Monte Carlo as he had to serve a five-second time penalty.
Verstappen entered the pits behind Bottas, who was slow-moving into the box as Lewis Hamilton was also serviced just ahead of him.
Red Bull rushed the Dutchman out ahead of Bottas, but the pair made contact and the Finn was lucky not to hit the wall.
Verstappen emerged in second place behind race-winner Lewis Hamilton and spent much of the remaining 50+ laps on the gearbox of the Mercedes in an attempt to pick his way past and negate his time penalty.
He could not make a move stick, however, and had to settle for net fourth once his penalty was applied, seeing a late move at the chicane result in contact that proved not to be costly.
