F1 Results Today: Lewis Hamilton roars back at home race as Max Verstappen struggles

F1 drivers spent Friday getting their cars dialled into the Silverstone ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton's domination of his home track is well known, and the British star set the fastest and third fastest times in FP1 and FP2 respectively.

His team-mate Charles Leclerc put in the second fastest time in that second session, with the pair sandwiched by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, whose McLaren boss Zak Brown admitted that the Ferraris are likely to be a challenge to beat this weekend.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen spent his customary Friday radio time complaining about an unmanageable Red Bull, embarrassingly ending up below both Racing Bulls on the timing sheets in a dismal 10th place in FP1 before climbing up to fifth behind the McLarens and Ferraris in FP2.

Gusty winds appeared to cause some problems throughout the day, with a number of drivers having high-speed spins at Copse as they tried to take the 180mph+ turn as close to flat out as possible.

The early afternoon session also featured two rookie drivers, with Arvid Lindblad stepping into Yuki Tsunoda's Red Bull and Paul Aron in Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber, both acquitting themselves reasonably well.
