The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series hits Mexico City this weekend, with qualifying taking place on Saturday, June 14, ahead of the Viva Mexico 250.
The action at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez this weekend comes after a trip to Michigan last time out, where Denny Hamlin won a series-high third race to go level with Christopher Bell, beating Chris Buescher in second and Ty Gibbs in third.
Hamlin won't be in action this weekend, though, after his partner gave birth to a baby boy this week, with the Joe Gibbs Racing star prioritising being at home and there for his family this weekend as opposed to being at the race track.
It's challenging to use history to gauge expectations for this weekend, as it's the first-ever points-paying Cup Series race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.
The closest we can do is look at the only road course race so far this year, whcih was at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) back in March, where 23XI duo of Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace qualified first and second, respectively, ahead of Chase Elliott, Carson Hocevar, and Daniel Suarez.
Interestingly, none of those names went on to win the race at COTA, with Christopher Bell winning ahead of William Byron in second on that occasion.
