Alpine challenging bias with Racing Pride partnership
Alpine aims to understand the challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community and create a more inclusive environment.
Alpine has partnered with Racing Pride to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion within motorsport across Pride Month.
F1 has sought to increase diversity and make the paddock a more welcoming environment to people of all genders, races and sexual orientations through various initiatives such as 'We Race as One'.
But it is clear that more can always be done, as indicated by an internal study at Alpine conducted by Racing Pride.
The survey found that although the majority of staff 'felt respected, valued and appreciated,' it was revealed that a 'male-dominated legacy culture with a strong culture of banter' remained.
Initiatives to counter this are now in place with the team also establishing a diversity and inclusion committee.
"We want Alpine to be an open, inclusive and productive place to work and for our employees to feel happy and supported in their workplace," explained Alpine CEO, Laurent Rossi.
"A happy environment gives greater creativity and that is exactly what we need to foster as we move forward.
"To do so, we need to fully understand the challenges some of the under-represented groups in motorsport face.
"Pride Month is a good place to start; we know that we need to do more to give this community a voice and representation.”
Alpine to display visual Pride allyship
As a visual representation of the team's allyship with the LGBTQ+ community, the rainbow flag is being displayed both in Enstone and on the bodywork of the A522 throughout June.
“For so long, motorsport has not been representative of the diversity we see in wider society," added Rossi.
"There are various reasons, but we need to look forward and challenge the biases we see.
"Our journey starts here. The LGBTQ+ community has lacked visible representation and support within our industry, and we need to change this."
