Russell and Albon similarities revealed
Russell and Albon similarities revealed
Williams driver Nicholas Latifi has revealed the positive effect of having both George Russell and Alex Albon as team-mates in F1.
Russell left the team to join Mercedes over the winter after a three-year stay, two of which were alongside Canadian Latifi.
The British driver was replaced by Alex Albon, who spent last season as Red Bull's development driver as well as coaching Yuki Tsunoda through his rookie year at AlphaTauri and driving for the team's DTM Ferrari squad.
Since rejoining the grid, Albon has put Williams into scoring positions twice in the opening seven races.
Asked as to the similarities between the Thai-British driver and Russell, Latifi replied: "It goes without saying they're both extremely quick drivers.
"When Alex was announced as the driver that was going to be my team-mate, I had no illusions he was not going to be on the pace straight away, despite him missing out a year.
"Obviously, I raced against him in 2018, or I raced as his team-mate in 2018, and I know just how quick he was."
Stopping short of revealing any secrets, Latifi added: "In many ways, the similarities... there are obviously some little differences in driving style here and there.
"I kind of knew about that going into the season, just from having been team-mates with Alex beforehand.
"I won’t say the driving style secrets because maybe they don't want to disclose those, but it's been great having both of them as team-mates."
