Vettel and Stroll to start from pits after Aston Martin problem
Both Aston Martins will start the inaugural Miami Grand Prix from the pit lane after a pre-race fuelling issue.
The Silverstone-based team has struggled all season long but after scoring points with both cars last time out at Imola, things continued to improve with a strong qualifying at the Miami International Autodrome.
Lance Stroll reached Q3 and was due to start 10th, with team-mate Sebastian Vettel in 13th.
But neither of the AMR22s took to the track for reconnaissance laps and were unable to beat the red light at the end of the pit lane, meaning both will start at the race from that very point.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Stroll explained: "Not ideal. It is a shame.
"We were in a good qualifying position, we had a little issue there with the fuel. We are trying to get the car for a start in the pit lane."
The team then confirmed a fuel temperature issue.
It is believed the fuel temperature was less than the minimum prescribed by the FIA and decided to stay in the pits to warm up the fuel.
UPDATE: We have a fuel temperature problem on both cars, which the team are currently working on. More to follow.#F1 #MiamiGP
