Aston Martin has become the first F1 team to take to the track with its all-new machinery after launching the AMR22 on Thursday.

Aston Martin was the third team to lift the covers on its 2022 entry following launches from both Haas and Red Bull.

The team has, however, beaten the rest to the track with Lance Stroll pictured leaving the garage on wet tyres at Silverstone on Friday.

Aston Martin will complete one of its two permitted filming days at Silverstone with Stroll and Sebastian Vettel limited to a combined maximum of 100km that must be completed on demonstration tyres.

Speaking at the launch of the AMR22, technical director Andrew Green explained why the team had planned to complete its first "shakedown" as soon as possible.

"What we wanted to do was shakedown as early as possible to check the systems out on the car and give us some time between shakedown and the Barcelona test," said Green.

"So that was the reason for shaking-down tomorrow. We have time to react.

"Hopefully there is nothing to react to but because the car is absolutely brand new with no carryover at all and pre-season testing is really short, the second test is so close to the first race that it is almost impossible to react to.

"To get a shakedown in prior to the first test, give ourselves a gap between the first test and the shakedown to react to, that is why we came to the shakedown date and it just makes sense to launch the day before. The car is effectively ready so that was the logic behind it."

Pre-season testing will commence with three days of running from February 23 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
