Alfa Romeo failed to "achieve what we deserved" - Giovinazzi

Formula E-bound Antonio Giovinazzi believes Alfa Romeo failed to achieve "what we deserved" in F1 in 2021.

Giovinazzi joins Dragon-Penske for the 2022 Formula E season following his release by Alfa Romeo after a three-year stint with the team.

Despite only securing three points last season with 10th and ninth-placed finishes in Monaco and Saudi Arabia respectively, Giovinazzi's campaign was more promising at times, with healthy positions taken away by punctures, poor pit stops and on-track incidents.

Asked in an end-of-season interview with GPFans what could be taken from his F1 stint moving forward, Giovinazzi insisted: "So many things. I'm really happy with myself in these last three years. How I grew up.

"If I see myself in race one in 2019 and where I am now, I'm a better driver, better person.

"Yeah, just improving myself, of course, we want always more. Unfortunately, F1 is like this.

"The last year we struggled more with the car and the result was not there. This year we had a lot of races with bad luck when we were already on the points or in a good position, but it's part of the game.

"The big disappointment is that before the race in Saudi we only had one point.

"If I see how our pace went, we went four times in Q3. We did four, five P11, so really close to the top 10 but with one point.

"We achieved two points in Saudi, but this is my big disappointment that we didn't achieve what we deserved."
