Alfa Romeo candidate Ilott seals IndyCar switch for 2022
Alfa Romeo candidate Ilott seals IndyCar switch for 2022
Alfa Romeo reserve driver Callum Ilott will compete in IndyCar on a full-time basis with Juncos Hollinger Racing after successfully completing a three-race audition with the team.
The move removes one potential candidate for the final Alfa Romeo seat currently occupied by Antonio Giovinazzi for next season.
Ilott has been a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy through his junior career but was unable to clinch an F1 drive last year, instead seeing Mick Schumacher make the step up from F2 to a race seat with Haas.
In a post on social media, Ilott said: "Awesome to finally announce a full-time drive next season with Juncos Hollinger Racing.
"I look forward to seeing what we can achieve this final weekend and with a lot of hard work over the winter what [we] can do for next year.
"I want to thank all the people who have been behind [me] from the beginning, Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger for their trust and this opportunity. Especially Ferrari Driver Academy."
Juncos Hollinger Racing announced today Callum Ilott will remain in the No. 77 entry for a full 2022 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season campaign.#JuncosHollingerRacing pic.twitter.com/16Q95ELMbF
