BWT gives Racing Point "an even greater incentive" for 2020 success

Racing Point title sponsor BWT has committed to building a new well in Gambia for every top-ten finish scored by the Formula 1 team in 2020.

Austrian water company BWT, Best Water Technology, launched the 'b.Water Mission' in 2018, a mission with the aim of 'providing sustainable, accountable and maintainable water systems in Gambia'.

The company has now given Racing Point drivers Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez an added motivation to perform well on track in the delayed season, with more than just championship points on offer.

“One of the key strengths of our partnership with BWT is a shared commitment to using our expertise and the global platform of sport to drive real progress in global sustainability projects," said Racing Point team principal Otmar Szafnauer.

"BWT are already supporting the team in our push to cut down on single-use plastics in the Formula 1 paddock – and with the b.Water Mission, we now have an opportunity to make an impact beyond the confines of the racetrack.

"As we make our long-awaited return to racing in Austria, we now have an even greater incentive to push for strong results and play our part in this fantastic initiative.”

The number one aim of the project is to ensure 'nobody in Gambia is forced to walk more than 150 metres to find clean, safe drinking water', and to do this, BWT intends to build 10,000 taps across the next seven years.
