Kubica reveals more 2020 racing plans

Robert Kubica has confirmed that he will likely race in DTM in 2020, with a potential testing role with a Formula 1 team also on the table.

Kubica confirmed earlier this year that he would not race next year with Williams, who confirmed Nicholas Latifi as George Russell's team-mate in Abu Dhabi.

Racing Point and Haas are both reportedly most keen to sign the experienced Pole as a simulator driver next year, although Kubica has long maintained that he wants to remain racing as well.

And it appears that Germany's touring-car championship will be his destination, as has long been suspected.

He said: "Definitely I'm looking for a big challenge, and definitely DTM, which is the highest probability that I will be racing [in], it's probably the toughest championship apart of Formula 1 in Europe.

"I think, let's put it this way, if I would manage to be racing there, I would be happy with it - and if we manage to combine a few things to make everybody happy, I'm open to this."

"I'm pretty optimistic and although not everything depends from my side and it has been more complicated because I would like to combine different programmes, it requires a bit more work and it is a bit more compromises.

"But I think the ingredients are all there, now is a question of mixing them up properly, hopefully it will work well."
