Hamilton: Rossi ride-swap will be surreal

This is going to be so cool.

Lewis Hamilton expects a "surreal" atmosphere when he and Valentino Rossi swap rides in a test planned for later this year.

Hamilton and Rossi have 15 world championships between them, with the Mercedes star having wrapped up his sixth F1 drivers' title in 2019.

MotoGP icon Rossi has previous experience driving Formula 1 cars, having tested several Ferrari models in the past, while Hamilton tested World Superbikes machinery in December last year.

On that occasion, Hamilton had a small spill on one of the days, and it was later revealed that he had been advised to slow down.

The Briton says it will be an honour to share a track with 'The Doctor', and is looking forward to trying a MotoGP bike for the first time.

"I'm super excited about it," Hamilton said. "I've been riding bikes for the last couple of years. I've only done like three days on a track but they've been incredible.

"I'm always watching MotoGP. It's great because there's a small group of us within the team that love riding and it's something I've always wanted to generally do since I was really young.

"It's pretty hardcore. Just being on the same track at the same time as Valentino is going to be very, very surreal and a real honour because he just such an icon in the sport and he's done so much for it.

"And it will be cool to see him in my car as well."
