Verstappen expecting strong Singapore GP, 'but...'
Max Verstappen is not hedging his bets on Red Bull finding success at the Singapore Grand Prix, despite expecting a successful outing at Marina Bay.
The Dutchman has scored just four points from the last two races, in Belgium and Italy, at circuits that were not expected to suit Red Bull's car.
However, Red Bull have been on the podium in Singapore each year since 2010, and it was Verstappen on the rostrum last season with a second-place finish behind Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen's two wins this year came in astonishing circumstances in Austria and Germany, while he narrowly missed out in Hungary, a track that Red Bull had been expected to be strong at.
And the Dutchman says he and the team will have to get plenty right if they are to make good on their potential.
He said: "Sometimes you think a track is not ideal and then you win a race. Sometimes you have to be a bit lucky for that. Sometimes you are just very quick.
"I expect to have a good weekend, but still, there are no guarantees.
"There are a lot of things you need to get right in qualifying as well, but in general throughout the whole weekend, to find a good set-up.
"Around here, with day practice and back into the night, you can't get caught out with the settings.
"There are still a lot of things to get right before we can talk about having a really good result."
