Hamilton has been perfect, but F1 needs more competition - Brawn
Mercedes aren't to blame for the state of the sport.
Formula 1 chief Ross Brawn has praised the performances of Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, and Mercedes so far in the 2019 F1 season, but insists the sport needs to change so that there is more competition at the front of the grid.
In the eight races so far, the Silver Arrows have emerged victorious in every single one, with Hamilton collecting six victories and Bottas two, albeit with the former’s win in Canada only coming due to a penalty given to Sebastian Vettel.
They are 14 points clear of Ferrari in the title race, and although Brawn respects their achievements, he wants to see a larger spread of race winners.
"If Mercedes keeps up this pace it could seal the Constructors' Championship by Monza, with a third of the season still left!" he suggested.

"Let's be clear: Lewis, Valtteri and Mercedes are not to blame for a season verging on perfection, and it should be obvious that the rule changes we want to introduce are not directed against a team that is rewriting the record books.
"But we must all understand that the sport we love needs more competition, so that other teams can also aspire to podium finishes and it is not just a few powerful teams that dominate."
Brawn previously revealed that Hamilton is set to take part in talks with the FIA and F1 organisers as part of the development of new regulations for 2021.
