'Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc won't be affected by 2021 rule change'
'Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc won't be affected by 2021 rule change'
Eddie Jordan doubts that Formula 1's new regulations for 2021 will have too much of an impact on the sport's leading lights like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
Liberty Media hope its F1 revolution will usher in a new era for the sport, with closer racing on-track and more teams able to fight at the front – where Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull have dominated in the V6 Hybrid era to date.
Although a budget cap will be introduced in an attempt to curb the domination of those teams, they will be free to spend as much as they please on preparing for the new technical regulations.
Jordan doubts that any of the top three will suddenly fall from their perch when the new rulebook kicks in.
"It is a strange phenomenon," Jordan told Gulf News. "I think great drivers attract great teams. It's as simple as that. I don't know why that is, but that's a fact of life in F1 in most cases.
"I wouldn't worry too much about the regulations going forward. I still believe that the really good drivers will always wind up making their own good cars as quick as possible.
"Lewis will have a good car, Verstappen will have one too, Leclerc will also have a good car.
"As long as he is around, Lewis is not going to wait to be beaten by a whole load of people as he already has a lot of load of things he wants to achieve in his mind on his bucket list.
"Whether it's rock and roll, whether it's music or whether it's being at home with the family in the UK or LA where he has been a record producer, Lewis is more than capable of doing and achieving all of this."
