Brazilian GP Driver Ratings Part 2
Daniil Kvyat (Qual: 16th - Race: 10th) 5/10
Kvyat wasn't really anywhere in the race until the late safety-car restart, which gave him the chance to vault into the points with some last-gasp overtaking. Extra bonus for the Russian as he avoided colliding with anyone and kept the score, unlike the previous two races!
Sergio Perez (Qual: 15th - Race: 9th) 7/10
Timing was of the essence for Perez as he was left in the right place at the right time to climb into the top 10 amid the madness late on in Interlagos, his fourth consecutive top-10 finish in Brazil.
Lando Norris (Qual: 11th - Race: 8th) 7/10
Abandoning a one-stop strategy worked out nicely for Norris – even though the same plan would reap huge rewards for his team-mate!
Lewis Hamilton (Qual: 3rd - Race: 7th) 5/10
Hamilton had little answer to Verstappen out front and the frustration of coming up short against one Red Bull possibly influenced his hasty decision to try and overtake the other one after the odd decision to pit under the safety car with just five laps left. It shunted both Albon and Hamilton from likely podium finishes. The reigning world champion is also now on his longest run of events without taking a pole position since joining Mercedes…
Daniel Ricciardo (Qual: 12th - Race: 6th) 6/10
Magnussen fans might have felt a little aggrieved at seeing Ricciardo end up so high in the order, having messed up the Dane's race with a ill-judged overtake, which cost the Australian a front wing and a five-second penalty. It forced him onto a strategy that would be pretty perfectly timed along with the late madness, with the Ferrari crash and Hamilton's penalty all moving the Australian up the order significantly.
