Ferrari want changes made to 2021 F1 regulations
Mattia Binotto says Ferrari will seek further changes to Formula 1's 2021 regulations, having opted against using the Scuderia's veto power as Liberty Media has pushed through the new rulebook.
Ferrari sit on the World Motorsport Council, which unanimously approved the 2021 regulations this week, before they were presented to the world at the United States Grand Prix.
A budget cap at $175m per year on performance-based costs and radical aerodynamic changes are among the key points that Liberty hope will turn F1 into a series that features closer racing from the front to the back of the grid.
However, Binotto says the announcement is merely a "starting point" for more tweaks to be made.
"A change was required to make it more sustainable and this is I think the reason why we finally voted in favour," he said.
"Are the set of regulations today the right ones for 2021? Do they still need to be improved? We believe it is a starting point, it is not the final regulations.
"We will continue to work very hard as we have done in the last weeks or months with F1 and the FIA and the other teams to find modifications which may be required to further improve the regulations and that is the simple way to move forward."
He added: "Since the very first time that we said we were not too happy with some content of the new regulations, we felt it was important to collaborate with F1 and the FIA to further improve them.
"I think we have worked very hard in the last months and weeks with the FIA to try to improve what we have got.
"But now it was the end of October and we needed to decide and we needed to move on."
