Hamilton: Leclerc and others get away with more

Lewis Hamilton believes that younger drivers such as Charles Leclerc are getting away with more punishable actions than the more experienced competitors.

The Brit started the Italian Grand Prix in second place on Sunday and spent the majority of the race attempting to hunt down and potentially overtake Leclerc.

However, the Monegasque driver used evasive moves to defend his position, such as moving across driving lines in a zigzag motion to block the path of the car in behind.

He was given a warning by the stewards, but Hamilton wants more, and has suggested he will be more aggressive on the track now if drivers are getting away with things.

“It was good fun,” he initially said of the battle.

“It doesn’t really matter what I think. I don’t really have anything to say about it we've gone over and over this multiple times.

“It seems like the new generation get away with a lot more in that area how they manoeuvre their car compared to the more experienced drivers but it's good knowledge now I know and look forward to the next one [race].”

Leclerc was shown a black and white flag after one particular incident, which is not a penalty as such but more of an acknowledgement of the action and a warning not to do it again.

As well as Leclerc, Hamilton has had similar run-ins with another young driver, Max Verstappen, in the past.
