McLaren star Oscar Piastri has topped Free Practice 1 (FP1) at the Belgian Grand Prix on Friday, thrashing Max Verstappen by over four-tenths of a second.

Perhaps fueled by the disappointment of a controversial penalty at Silverstone last time out, the Australian star's weekend has gotten off to a rapid start, with no driver being able to match the pace he set in his papaya car.

Verstappen finished FP1 in second place, 0.404 seconds behind the Australian, whilst Lando Norris was one tenth slower than that after a scruffy session for the Brit.

Elsewhere at Spa, all eyes will be on Ferrari heading into sprint qualifying later today, with both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc struggling in FP1.

Leclerc finished the session fifth, but over nine-tenths behind Piastri's leading time, with Hamilton in seventh and over one second behind the McLaren star. There certainly looks to be plenty of work to do for the Scuderia.
