A rising NASCAR star has admitted that he does not want a career like two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, who has run 730 races over the last 22 years at the top leve.

19-year-old Connor Zilisch has been making waves in the Xfinity Series this season, claiming four race victories in the No.88 Chevrolet.

Zilisch recently opened up about his racing future, claiming that the arrival of a new American team in F1 in 2026 could make it possible for him to race in that series in the future.

Now, he has distanced himself from future hall of famer Busch - who is ninth on the all-time list of Cup Series race wins with 63 - suggesting that he does not want to stay in one racing series for his whole career.

"I’m not the guy who cares to win 250 races in NASCAR like a Kyle Busch or care to go for a win record," he told the Stacking Pennies podcast.

"I want to win a championship here and I want to be successful, but I want to experience different series and different cultures and what there is to explore in the world of motorsports."

How many championships will Zilisch win?

Zilisch is expected to make his full-time Cup Series debut in 2026, having already raced three times in NASCAR's premier series with Trackhouse Racing.

The 19-year-old from Charlotte could be an Xfinity Series champion by then, currently sat in second in the standings after 19 races of the season.

Zilisch burst onto the NASCAR scene last year, when he claimed victory on his Xfinity Series debut at Watkins Glen.

Now, with his recent quotes, Zilisch has suggested that maybe just the one Cup Series championship would be enough for him, before he potentially thinks about trying to become a champion in a different series around the world.
