Three-time Cup Series champion Joey Logano has confirmed his stance on when he could retire from NASCAR as a major milestone approaches.

The Team Penske star is set to hit 600 Cup Series race starts at Dover Motor Speedway this weekend in what is his 16th full-time season in NASCAR's top division, becoming only the 34th driver to have reached that milestone.

In 599 race starts, Logano has 37 Cup Series victories to his name, which helped him scoop championships in 2018, 2022, and 2024. Now, as the 600-mark approaches, the driver of the No. 22 was quizzed on when he could retire from the sport.

"If I can win and be a help to my team, then I want to stick around,” Logano told the media ahead of this weekend's race.

"As soon as I feel like I'm a drag on the team and I'm not bringing anything to the table anymore, whether that's on the racetrack or off the racetrack, that's what I need to get out of the way."

When will Joey Logano retire from NASCAR?

The Team Penske driver continued: "At that point, I want to see Roger Penske and his race team and the people that are there be successful. I care about them a lot,"

"And so I want to be a way to contribute to that. That's what I want out of myself, that's what I would expect if I were Roger Penske, I would expect that out of an employee, especially that's been there for as long as I've been there.

"That, to me, is going to be the deciding factor, when that is. I don't want stick around and be one of those guys that it's like, 'Man, he just went a few years too long'. You don't want to be that guy."

Logano concluded: "So, I think whenever that happens, it happens. I don't know when that is,"

"I would be an idiot to think that you can be competing at the top level into your 50's right? What athlete's ever done that? There's something that changes at some point.

"But right now I still feel as fresh as ever, I feel sharp as ever, I'm driven as much as ever. I still care. I still get emotional about things. That shows me that I care a lot.

"With those factors still there, where the end is, I don't know yet."
